Artists’ reception April 5th, 1-5pm
Wave Hill is celebrating the “2009 Year of the Trees” by inviting artists to create drawings and paintings based on – or in response to – trees in Wave Hill’s collection.
40º 53’ 54.5“N, 73º 54’ 45.3“W (Wavehill Dogwood), is a drawing of a venerable Kousa Dogwood that can be seen through the window of the gallery. Working from photographs, Andrew drew the dogwood, leaf by leaf, branch by branch, resulting in a stunning portrait of the tree.
Wave Hill is a 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. Its mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscapes, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts.
Artists in “Arbores Venerabiles” include: Joel Adas, Rebecca Allan, Sandra Allen, Joan Backes, Isabel Bigelow, Emily Brown, Diane Carr, Jill Lear, Andrew Millner, Stas Orlovski, Ilene Sunshine, and Amy Talluto.
